Rail Explorers–it’s a peddle powered Iowa adventure by rail! Looking for things to do in Iowa? You’ll get to enjoy the outdoors while exploring Iowa’s scenic countryside and the Des Moines River Valley from a different perspective. This is a fun, family friendly activity suitable for a wide age range. It’s not physically difficult, thanks to the electric motor assist on the peddle rail cars, and only one person per rail car actually needs to peddle, although all seats comes with peddles. It’s about a two hour activity, and there’s a 30 minute stop in the middle of the ride where you get off your peddle rail car and have a chance to walk around, stretch your legs and eat a snack if you brought one. You should plan ahead for this adventure and make a reservation for your peddle rail car–tour days book out well in advance, especially weekends! They offer two and four-seater rail peddle cars.
