Hills

A hop and a skip away

Welcome to Hills, “where town and country meet!” Hills is a small bedroom community located about eight miles south of Iowa City. According to the 2010 census, 703 people called this town home, and the median age was 45.2 years. It is part of the Iowa City Community School District. There is an elementary school in the town of Hills, and older students bus or drive to Iowa City for junior high and high school. Read about the Hills Elementary Lightening Bolts here.

There are a handful food and drink options in town that are popular stops with folks out on bicycle or motorcycle rides thanks to the scenic drive of Old Sand Road. Take a peek at the Old 218 Tap menu here.

While Hills is a quiet and smaller community, that is often one of the main reasons cited for people looking for a home there. Property values are often more affordable that those in Iowa City, yet it is a short, easy drive to all the amenities of a larger community. Located on Highway 218, Hills is convenient for individuals who need to regularly commute north or south.
